Growing up the son of a mechanical engineer and carpenter, making things is in my blood. As a child cycling to scout the local dumpsters for useful items in the nearby industrial park was even better than going to the mall for new and shiny things. Collecting switches, metals and mechanical things was like finding 5 dollars in your freshly dried jeans. It’s difficult today to pass a dumpster and not take a peak inside.
I’m a craftsman with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design and an Associate degree in Electronic Technology. Whether it’s teaching children about cause and effect and hand eye coordination blowing gigantic 10’ + bubbles or designing & building an interactive educational exhibit having children act out the various roles of the honeybee caste system, I’m a Maker. Waking up in the morning asking myself “what if we….” throughout the day thinking of ways to improve products and systems, it’s in my DNA.
I’ve freelanced at The LEGO Futura group developing new ideas for toys, designed computer accessories for children using Star Trek®, Nickelodeon®, and Flintstones® brands for a startup, designed and built custom adaptations for handicapped children and young adults within the Massachusetts School system, taught Modeling Techniques I&II at my alma mater Wentworth Institute of Technology, and was a Practice Monitor at the glassblowing department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
I enjoy solving problems and making things better thru brainstorming and prototyping. I’m fascinated with all materials and manufacturing techniques whether ancient or modern. I’m skilled working with wood, metal, plastic and glass and always up for a challenge.
